Mistress of the Dark, oil on wood coffin lid

I grew up on Chiller Theatre, which aired on WPIX, channel 11, in NYC. But what I didn’t know was how many horror hosts there were over the decades. And I’d never seen Elvira’s Movie Macabre until after Al Gore invented the Internets™, which is not a truck it’s a series of tubes. That’s also why we know she’s Cassandra Peterson, which is funny, as Cassandra is also a totally appropriate horror name. She started her show in 1981, when I would’ve been only 13, back when you actually had to make your Halloween shit, and didn’t just wing it into the cart at Target. And if all she’s done for horror wasn’t enough cool cred, she also protested Elon Musk by having Elon Sux painted across the panels, before donating it NPR during a fundraiser.
This the twenty-third painting I’ll be showing at the Further Frames Devil’s Night Halloween art show on October 30th, in Denver, Colorado.
